1 わがたましいよ。【主】をほめたたえよ。私のうちにあるすべてのものよ。聖なる御名をほめたたえよ。
1 Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.

2 わがたましいよ。【主】をほめたたえよ。主の良くしてくださったことを何一つ忘れるな。
2 Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits–

3 主は、あなたのすべての咎を赦し、あなたのすべての病をいやし、
3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,

4 あなたのいのちを穴から贖い、あなたに、恵みとあわれみとの冠をかぶらせ、
4 who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,

5 あなたの一生を良いもので満たされる。あなたの若さは、鷲のように、新しくなる。
5 who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

6 【主】はすべてしいたげられている人々のために、正義とさばきを行われる。
6 The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.

7 主は、ご自身の道をモーセに、そのみわざをイスラエルの子らに知らされた。
7 He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel:

8 【主】は、あわれみ深く、情け深い。怒るのにおそく、恵み豊かである。
8 The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.

9 主は、絶えず争ってはおられない。いつまでも、怒ってはおられない。
9 He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever;

10 私たちの罪にしたがって私たちを扱うことをせず、私たちの咎にしたがって私たちに報いることもない。
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.

11 天が地上はるかに高いように、御恵みは、主を恐れる者の上に大きい。
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;

12 東が西から遠く離れているように、私たちのそむきの罪を私たちから遠く離される。
12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

13 父がその子をあわれむように、【主】は、ご自分を恐れる者をあわれまれる。
13 As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;

14 主は、私たちの成り立ちを知り、私たちがちりにすぎないことを心に留めておられる。
14 for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.

15 人の日は、草のよう。野の花のように咲く。
15 As for man, his days are like grass, he flourishes like a flower of the field;

16 風がそこを過ぎると、それは、もはやない。その場所すら、それを、知らない。
16 the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more.

17 しかし、【主】の恵みは、とこしえから、とこしえまで、主を恐れる者の上にある。主の義はその子らの子に及び、
17 But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children–

18 主の契約を守る者、その戒めを心に留めて、行う者に及ぶ。
18 with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts.

19 【主】は天にその王座を堅く立て、その王国はすべてを統べ治める。
19 The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.

20 【主】をほめたたえよ。御使いたちよ。みことばの声に聞き従い、みことばを行う力ある勇士たちよ。
20 Praise the LORD, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word.

21 【主】をほめたたえよ。主のすべての軍勢よ。みこころを行い、主に仕える者たちよ。
21 Praise the LORD, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will.

22 【主】をほめたたえよ。すべて造られたものたちよ。主の治められるすべての所で。わがたましいよ。【主】をほめたたえよ。
22 Praise the LORD, all his works everywhere in his dominion. Praise the LORD, O my soul.
