• 建物や設備にも深刻な損害

• センターの子どもたちは命は守られましたが、すでに栄養失調の兆候が見られる
• 来週から学年末試験が始まるが、この状況では勉強できる状態ではない

Update on Pastor Elias & the Situation in Tanzania

Dear friends and partners,

I’m writing to share an urgent update from Pastor Elias in Tanzania, who has been faithfully leading church-planting and caring for orphans in Mwanza.

1. The Political Situation in Tanzania

Tanzania is currently facing significant unrest following the contested national elections, which many citizens believe were rigged.
Widespread demonstrations, clashes with security forces, looting, and destruction of property have broken out across several regions. Reports indicate that many innocent people—including children—have lost their lives in the violence.

This instability has especially affected vulnerable communities.

2. What Happened to the Orphan Centre

Pastor Elias arrived safely back in Mwanza after completing a successful church-planting mission in Arusha. However, upon returning, he found that their orphan centre had been heavily damaged when demonstrators moved through the region.

Here is what he reported:

• The centre was broken into and looted
• All stored food was taken
• All clothing and shoes for the children were stolen
• The building and property suffered significant destruction
• Several children in the area were killed during police crackdowns
• The children at the centre are safe, but show early signs of malnutrition
• They begin their end-of-year exams next week, and many are not in a fit state to study

This is an extremely difficult situation, and they urgently need help to restore basic living conditions for the children.
