Cared for by Jesus

He feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church. Ephesians 5:29b

As a single in the spiritual sense, I had been relying on myself for what I needed. Safety, security, a secure future, provision, needing to secure attention and affirmation... but now I am learning about His care as Husband...

Another experience of feeling His care was when I was preparing for a scary and dreaded surgery (I share about this in Day 55), the only thing I wanted to do was numb my feelings and just get through the weeks leading up to the surgery date. I clearly heard His invitation to lay down sources of escape (Netflix binging, social media binge-scrolling). These instructions initially felt harsh: “You want me to feel all of these emotions? It’s too painful!” But I obeyed, and literally poured my heart out to Him every night, weeping as He showed me deeper things in my heart that were being brought up through this surgery, that He wanted to heal in me. When the date to enter the hospital arrived, I was emotionally and spiritually prepared. I was in awe of His wisdom and care in His instruction - had I procrastinated the process, I wouldn’t have been ready.

A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is He. ... He shielded him and cared for him; he guarded him as the apple of his eye. Deuteronomy 32:4b, 10b

Talk with Jesus

Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7 NKJV

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:25-26, 31-33

The LORD is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does. The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them. Psalm 145:13b, 18, 19
