I had been feeling blue... loving my work, but needing something more. Some delight - to delight in and be delighted in. To be satisfied. And this desire always initially points me toward thinking of ‘my future husband’. But it has been my endeavour to find out that what God says is true - that He provides for ALL my needs, and that means that singles are not lacking something - He provides for their needs. So I said to Him, “I don’t have a husband or even an available close friend right now, would You meet me in this place?”

My evening opened up, and instead of adding another hour of work, I felt Him draw me away, for a moment, and say “Come join Me in my rest. Come take a Sabbath moment - set apart for Me”.

I said yes. And it came to be the highlight of my entire day.

The Lord will guide you always;
he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your frame.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
like a spring whose waters never fail.
“If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath
and from doing as you please on my holy day,
if you call the Sabbath a delight
and the Lord’s holy day honorable,
and if you honor it by not going your own way
and not doing as you please or speaking idle words,
then you will find your joy in the Lord,
and I will cause you to ride in triumph on the heights of the land
and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob.”
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
Isaiah 58:11, 13-14
