Declaration Verses

When Joshua was before the Lord, and the accuser was at his side to accuse him (Zechariah 3:1-2), the Lord said to satan: “The Lord rebuke you, satan!“ If you find yourself in a similar situation feeling powerless under satan’s lies, declare God’s Word. It’s like saying, “Nope! I know the truth!” - nothing shuts up a lie like knowing the truth unshakably in your core.

If you ever feel unworthy because of your past; if you ever hear the accuser remind you of your past, and hear his whisper that that is still who you are now, declare the truth!

In Christ, God sees me as holy, without blemish and free from accusation.

(from Col 1:22)

If am in Christ...

  • There is no condemnation for me. (Rom 8:1)
  • All my sins are forgiven. God cancelled the charge of my legal indebtedness which stood against me and condemned me. He took it away and nailed it to the cross. (Col 2:13-15)
  • The Spirit of God lives in me. (Rom 8:11)

If the Spirit of God lives in me...

  • I do not live according to the sinful nature, but rather I live according to the Spirit. I set my mind on what the Spirit desires, rather than what my sinful nature desires. (Rom 8:5)
  • I am no longer controlled by the sinful nature, which brought death in my life, but I am controlled by the Spirit, which is life and peace. (Rom 8:6, 9)
  • If Christ is in me, my body is dead because of sin, yet my spirit is alive because of righteousness. (Rom 8:10)
  • I am led by the Spirit of God. (Rom 8:14)

If I am led by the Spirit of God...

  • By the Spirit, I put to death the misdeeds of the body, the sinful nature. (Rom 8:13)
  • I am a child of God, and heir and co-heir with Christ, to share in his sufferings in order to also share in His glory. (Rom 8:17)

If I am in Christ, I am blessed with every spiritual blessing (Eph 1:3):

  • Chosen in him to be holy and blameless in his sight. (Eph 1:4)
  • In love, predestined for adoption to sonship. (Eph 1:4-5)
  • Given redemption through Jesus’ blood, given the forgiveness of sins. (Eph 1:7)
  • God lavishes grace on us. (Eph 1:7-8)

I am reconciled to God, brought near by the blood of Christ (Eph 2:14a).

I am clothed with Christ (Gal 3:27; Rom 13:14).

You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:22-24

The way I live changes.

  • I take off my old self with its practices and put on the new self. (Col 2:20-3:10)
  • I don’t think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature. Rather, I think about excellent and praiseworthy things. (Phil 4:4-9)

God’s peace protects my heart and mind.

The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:5b-7

I forget what is behind and live my life in Him (Phil 3:12-14).

  • Called to a holy life. (2 Tim 1:9; 1 Cor 1:2)
  • Exhorted to continue to live my life in Him, being rooted, built up, and strengthened in Him, overflowing with thankfulness (Col 2:6-7). Created in Him to do good works. (Eph 2:10)
  • Enabled to stand firm in Christ. (2 Cor 1:21)

But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:3-7
